A voice takes you on a journey to Beijing where we meet Mr. Chen, Ms. Jia and Ms. Zhao. All of them share a similar background, they live or once lived in the Hutong residential area. While we visit them we learn why they once wanted to leave that place and why sometimes they still miss it.
A Beijing Tale was shot in 2009 as part of an exchange program with the Beijing Film Academy. It tells the story of 3 people living in Beijing who recently moved or are in the process of moving.
It’s a short documentary video letter about Chinese people who trade in their old cultural heritage for a more modern way of life. We learn what kind of impact this decision has on their Chinese identity while they reflect back on their home and the future of Beijing.
